HP Details Fall Product Lineup
By P J Connolly

October 10, 2008 — Hewlett-Packard has announced the upcoming release of new printers and other imaging devices, as well as industry-specific offerings.

At the top of the list might be the Color LaserJet CM3530 MFP, a legal-sized multifunction device intended for networked use, but only taking up desktop-scale space. It uses HP’s new ColorSphere toner, as does the new Color LaserJet CP3520 printer series. A new black toner cartridge for the CM3530 and the CP3520 series is also available, intended for high-volume use.

The company has added a line of secure hard disks for use in security-conscious environments, which use Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) to keep confidential data from prying eyes. The CP3520s are scheduled for availability in October, while the CM3530 MFP and the secure hard disks are due in November.

HP also introduced a new legal-size flatbed scanner, the Scanjet N6310, operating at up to 15 pages per minute. The scanner is available now.

Two lines of monochrome printers, the LaserJet P2050 and P2030 series, were unveiled. The P2050 series is planned for release by year’s end, while the P2030 series will become available in North American and EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) markets in November; it is slated for a January 2009 release in Asia-Pacific markets.

Meanwhile, the company unveiled several new products addressing the needs of clients in the automotive, financial services and health care industries, and the public sector.

For health care, HP Document Capture for Admissions and HP Identification Printing are designed to capture and protect patient medical information, and will be available this month.

The HP Monroney Label Printing Solution is meant to help automobile manufacturers produce high-quality vehicle window stickers on selected LaserJet printers, with all the information required by U.S. law for new vehicles. It is also due later this month.

The Account Opening Accelerator for Banking is a program designed to simplify the customer's initial banking experience, and it is planned for U.S. release this month, with worldwide release coming next year.

Also for this month is a tool set for procurement and contracting tasks carried out by the public sector.

HP and Equitrac have joined together to provide new job accounting and imaging security solutions, due this fall. These allow businesses to track and account for billable printing expenses, and provide what the company calls “fleet-wise” management of imaging and printing devices.

Finally, a new host printing solution produced by HP and MPI is meant to handle the complex tasks of managing large-scale host-driven print jobs with a variety of common forms. It is also due this fall.
