JAMF Software announced the availability of the
JSS Mobile

The Casper Suite is a set of client management tools for the Mac OS X platform. The company said that with JSS Mobile installed, it’s possible to view hardware and operating system information, asset management and purchasing details, and the software installed on desktops. JSS Mobile, like other applications for Apple’s mobile devices, is available from the App Store.
Sonicwall released the next generation of its threat management tools, the
Network Security Appliance 240
. The NSA 240 is built around the company’s RFDPI (Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection) engine, which uses object-based controls for managing application and user identity and access. The NSA 240’s price is US$1,195; with the Total Secure option for 3G or modem backup connectivity, it’s $1,770. The appliance can be managed centrally using the policy-based Sonicwall Global Management System.
Updates
Database virtualization specialists Xkoto released an update to its Gridscale tools for database servers.
Gridscale 4.1
now offers support for Microsoft SQL Server as well as IBM DB2; SQL Server connections may be made via JDBC, ODBC or .NET. The new release allows for the mixing of operating systems and database versions in the same virtual database pool, and DBAs now have the choice of replicating databases synchronously or asynchronously. Also in this release are an updated management console; support for XA transactions; and support for third-party enterprise applications, including offerings from BusinessObjects, IBM, Informatica and TMW Systems, as well as custom line-of-business applications.
